Add Parrying with any weapon and feinting
More skilled melee mechanics. Also a reason to play towards end of wipe to practice melee skills.

I think its a bad idea, weapons wont be special anymore if they all do the same thing. -

<Hidden>yes been saying this. Would love feint/parry/sidestep all on around ~5 second cd, perfect for repeated engagements in a fight but not spammable by any means, actually really important not to whiff

<Hidden>Nice idea. There should be a posture system where when you block your posture goes down and if you get a perfect parry your posture stays the same. Once your posture is all the way down you get guard broken and they get free hits. Would make it very skillful managing your posture.

<Hidden>I also think more control of the direction of attacks would be wonderful. Scroll does nothing, make it a stab and a downward slash for up and down scroll respectively. we have directional block, why no directional attack?

<Hidden>I think only a few weapons should be able to parry and riposte like the longsword. They could add a parry dagger that's similar to the flute. The rapier definitely should be able to like an Olympic fencer. I could see it only working when you single wield just the rapier so your right click could be the block and when you riposte an attack your character could stab the rapier forward in a quick motion.

<Hidden>If this is done, the longsword can be removed, because the German two-handed sword and the woodcutter's axe will be very strong.

<Hidden>Parrying is a fine idea imo but adding feinting would add more frustration on top of swing manip.
if we were going to lean into a full physics based combat system then by all means but I don't think it would do the game any real justice.
We already have people who know wacky things like being able to swing the bardiche with their back turned to you and still get a headshot on you, I don't also want to now have to worry about a dude faking me out when they already have so much power just dancing in and out of range and spacing properly. -

<Hidden>this isnt for honor. i would be down for more parry weapons but not all. feinting is already done by swing manipulation. we dont need more weapon skills we need more weapons in general. some characters can use wide arrays of weapons while other have like 4.

<Hidden>I had an idea for this that certain attacks could have active blocking hitboxes. You could block by swing these attacks at incoming weapons to negate both swings (or just theirs in certain cases based on impact).

<Hidden>Feints are a very bad idea, as we can see from Mordhau, where the entire story was reduced to spam feints. In Dark and Darker, the combat system is diverse and well-developed.

<Hidden>Stop with this parry bs that is too many mechanics especially for the devs they wouldnt be able to add feinting and would crumble on the idea I think its only right for longsword to have the ability to parry....

<Hidden>Feinting is a stupid idea, this game would just turn into mordhao.
VERY STUPID IDEA -

<Hidden>At least we should be able to interrupt the attack at some point so attack is not totally predictable.
If fainting is to be added we need to limit the bunny hopping and add some insertion to the body so you cannot do quick sidesteps left and right like in Fortnite. -

<Hidden>This is a no-brainer and should be implemented. It doesn't need to be all weapons, but every class should have some sort of access to parry on one weapon or another. Not letting every class have some sort of parry is about the same as not letting some classes run or jump. Fighters, sure, but why do sorcerers/warlocks get to parry with a longsword and other classes don't? It's crazy fighters get to have bows but all classes don't have parry? Come on

<Hidden>1) Allow the slayer to parry/block enemy attacks when playing with swords.
Add dual blades as 1 item. Add a starting magic resistance of 30 to it.
2) Combine the "Slayer" and "Dual Wield" perks into one perk so that defensive perks can be used in character building. (Without which the slayer cannot survive in this game).
3) Provide heavy leather/cloth armor for crafting at merchants. Brigandine, Jazérant, Gambeson. + More clothing for different materials for the slayer. (Most clothing is unavailable to them, the choice is small).
4) Craft a short sword and arming sword, + dual blades, if they are added.
5) Allow the fighter class to choose which throwing weapons they can use, knives or axes. The choice prohibits carrying the other option.
6) Give the slayer an artifact for the left hand. Either paired blades or a short sword.
