Alternative method to current escape system
Quick rundown:
Timer = 20 Minutes
Mode of escape = "Portal Scrolls" or "Group Portal Scrolls"
Map size = x4 Bigger than the current howling crypts
Player limit = 30
Items = "Portal Scroll" "Map parchment" "Magic Map"
Details:
Having a 20-minute timer it plays like normal but for a more "DND" type play it's a slower pace and can be a lot more thought out each run. You can find maps which can be equipped in your hands like most items and brought up to your face similar to sea of thieves which when a party is holding more "Portal Scrolls" than they need, for example Party of three is holding x4 "Portal Scrolls" then they will be marked on the map (If you have a Magic map)
To escape you have to find a "Portal Scroll" sometimes you can find a rare version of the scroll which has a "Group Portal" (x3 Portal) or a larger Portal that three of you can walk through before it closes.
[Shrinking zone feels wrong for this game since its all rush for a game with Melee/Magic combat]

The Final circle could be something like a mini boss or even Boss room, which has a guaranteed group portal, but obviously a tough fight, so either find a scroll or fight the boss sort of situation. -

<Hidden>I think if you want to add a better escape option, "last man standing" is a good choice. A team won't get messed up due to final circle as if only one team remains, the very center should have a portal open. gives better survivability at the end, while also encourages fighting in the final circle instead of running around trying to find portals to escape.

<Hidden>They could improve the base game by increasing the map size and timer but the new way to escape feels pointless and being marked on the map, what’s the point? Smart players would just not carry more than they need
A bigger map I’m all for tho -

<Hidden>With the current system (battle royale zone) PVP is encouraged as the zone shrinks more and more towards the center forcing the remaining players closer and closer together.
The Suggested Alternative system does seem to encourage PVP in its own way in regards to those holding "portal scrolls" but does need to be more in-depth.
The "portal scrolls" themselves would act as a summoning device (much like the current blue/red stones) but would be used where the player is standing.
Example: Player 1 uses a scroll. Said scroll is consumed but instead of just removing Player 1 from the match it would instead initiate a countdown till a escape portal spawns at the location the scroll was used. Player 1 does not need to be at the location as it is independent of said player.
Anyone using a "Magic Map" would be able to see the general location or direction of said portal while it is spawning. Incentivizing people to go in that direction for pvp or escape. -

<Hidden>Another idea to add to this suggestion.
A way to mitigate camping with scrolls (If that is desired) would be to add a guaranteed 3 man escape portal location that will spawn near the end of the match.
That would be the only guaranteed portal spawn with no player interaction required for it to appear. The location would be visible on the "Magic Map" much like a portal spawned from a "Portal Scroll"
Possibly in a room that is not as hard as a main boss but not as easy as a mini boss. So it does cause some aggravation and incentive to actually go out and explore to find the scrolls rather than having to deal with the "Portal Guardian" -

<Hidden>There should be both Portal Scroll and Normal portal simultaneously.
Recommend:
- Based on what author suggests but make the map 6x6 30 man (from 4x4/5x5 18 man, can be easily accomplished by merging the current 6 maps into 4) (10x10 is too large and too much walking).
- Spawns with 44 effective portals, 18 Reds, 23 Blues, 3 "Gold" Portal that force queue you/your team into high-roll (For free) (If you are in High-Roll already throw you into another high-roll match), in which 3 Group Reds, 3 Blues, 3 Group Blue, 3 Golds will be spawn as Portal Scroll with the rest being normal portals.
- Removes the shrink wait time altogether and have the map shrinks all the time with the following table (Longer shrink time allows slower peace games):
1) 19:55-15:00 99%
2) 15:00-8:00 75% 1 Super Early Blue
3) 8:00-5:00 50% 1 Blue
4) 5:00-3:00 35% 1 Blue
5) 3:00-1:00 20% 1 Blue, 2 Red Group
6) 1:00-0:15 5% 1 Blue Group, 1 Blue, 1 Red Group
7) 0:15-0:00 0% 1 Last Team Standing Blue Group -

Really like the "Gold Portal" ! also I think you thought well about the addition to this suggestion! (wish I could edit my original post to add your ideas in) -

<Hidden>Yeah the zone feels thematically off in this game.
An open map with a roaming boss after a timer would be cool. The boss should be absurdly strong as its purpose would be to kill remaining players. Portals would also need to be visible on the map for this system to be reasonable. -

Im agree, the plage with prefect circle shape is not immersive at all, i also though about a earthquake in the crypt that collapse random rooms making players to move. At least i hope they could make the plage spread more naturally not just like a very convenient circle. -

<Hidden>Having a 100% guarantee item you can bring into the raid that lets you escape with your current gear completely undermines and trivializes the gameplay. It is an escape game. You should be forced to find the way to escape in the raid.

<Hidden>It would be pretty nice if you could find or Craft Portal scrolls that you can take in your adventures as an emergency out. Make it a long and noisy cast time (like resurection) so you might get interupted if you're just trying to run from a battle and this way you dont get fucked by bad portal spawns. Would probably take 2 spots in inventory

<Hidden>the game encourages enough pvp and the static zone ways out are amazing. dungeonborne is a bad game leave the bad mechanics there.
