Tone back the bard nerfs
Cleric was already is top tier support while bard was close. You’ve brought down bars while leaving cleric still at the apex. Only a skilled bard was able to balance song playing with looting and fighting a, and you’ve just made it harder. On top of gutting skill expression the payoff for playing bard is worse. Please consider nerfing cleric, rebuffing charismatic performance skips, or rebuffing songs. Cleric can’t be top while bard gets both cast time nerfs and spell effectiveness nerfs.

<Hidden>Highlighted comment
playing bard pre-nerf was literally the most fun I have ever had playing a video game I think in my entire life, but now it really does feel like a chore, especially in 3 mans. I think the nerf to bard was too hasty, especially when cleric is still an absolute MUST HAVE for ANY hell or high roller team. Maybe there is another way to change the class without making the songs so slow? perhaps make the songs move much faster and have tighter skill windows for good/great performance? this would keep the skill cap and make playing bard not feel like a slog. -

<Hidden>If anything needs nerfed, nerf the actual buff and damage numbers not the casting time. I was already playing music 80% of the match, now the class can't even reasonably loot anything in a party of three. The songs take too long to cast even with stacking knowledge and will.

<Hidden>Nerf the stats on the songs as much as you want, but please just let us keep our charismatic performance skips, it felt integral to playing the class. Everything is just too slow without it.

<Hidden>I echo the sentiments shared above. If Charismatic Performance is nerfed... slightly buff debuff and buff uptime. If it's reverted back to how it was, you can reduce the buff/debuff uptime. That simple.

<Hidden>i mean, all players agree that clerics ARE the stronger class in the game, we can do more stuff, but weaker, and we use shit armor, short ranger weapons, low HP, and now we can´t even play...
men, its ok to nerf bard, but nerf the top tier classes aswell, we can´t stand a chance against most clases, -

<Hidden>Cleric untouched, Fighters untouched, Falchion untouched. Bards? Instant nerfs. Cringe decision.
-

<Hidden>I really dont feel like Bards were in a bad spot to justify the nerfs... especially not when clerics exist. I really dont think the balancing was all that bad. Fighters and clerics were a little stronger than they probably should have been but everything else felt pretty good.

<Hidden>I agree that bard needs his songs back, I'd be happy with removing skipping notes as a way to increase song cast speed as a nerf (I also didn't care if they left it alone) but pull back the nerfs on our songs.
Of all the nerfs on the songs I understand nerfing the scaling of Din of darkness because it's a dot.
Piercing Shrill isn't, so it doesn't get it's +damage added 8 times.
Just make all dots scaling +50% of +damage. -

<Hidden>Bard has base -20% buff duration, negitive phys power, negative magic power and can only wield 2 ultiltys on their belt(if you drop the lute all together, if you use the lute you only have 1 space). Most beginner bards don’t even know how to do anything other then play songs. It took a lot of skill and managing to experience anything other then song playing on bard. Now that the cast times are increased due to charismatic performance nerf, there is no time to help teammates clear pve, loot, or even join a pvp fight. Meanwhile the most busted broken support class, cleric, gets a cast speed buff. I don’t understand why this nerf even happend, and I don’t know why they mega nerfed bard. It’s just unfun to play now. I hope they fix it.

<Hidden>idgaf about the song nerfs but the charismatic performance nerf is really annoying turning bard to garbage & unplayable Impossible to play with 50% decreased combat effectiveness having to play song for 9min out of the 10min u are inside the dungeon like wtf 😄 as soon as u finsh all your buffs the other buff runs out
the only problem with bard was
Bard's Din of Darkness 50%/50%/50% to 10%/30%/50%.
Bard's Piercing Shrill's 50%/50%/50% to 10%/30%/50%.
Hitting your through walls and has unlimted range from up to down and it can one shot whole group within 4 sec and u guys still didn't nerf that? -

<Hidden>get good at the game, please. and that goes for all of the upvoters as well. charismatic performance was cringe as fuck. - a bard main

<Hidden>the game feels terrible to play as a solo bard player now. the ability to skip notes and quick cast felt like the only real tech the bard had now it just feels mindless and slow compared to everyone else. - a real bard main
-
17 Aug, '23
<Hidden>please just revert the note skipping and balance it from there, it is unnecessarily clunky now and it took one an only skill expression bard had
-

<Hidden>Charismatic Performance is useless now. For 6 note songs we needed to hit 3/6, now we need 5/6. For 4 note songs we needed 2/4 to play, now we need 3/4. For 5 not songs we needed 2/5 or 3/5 hit, now its 4/5 regardless. For 3 note songs we used to need 2/3, now we literally need to hit all 3/3 so charismatic performance is a garbage passive ability. All other passives don't compare to charismatic performance and now it's useless. All while clerics can buff/heal their team to victory with ease even against a bard team.
Side note, some songs don't even play properly if we use the skips anymore. They don't even say Crappy Music, they just don't play and fizzle out. Please give the bard community some help. 3 note songs should remain 2/3 hits is good, 5 note songs can stay at 4/5 that's ok with me, and 4 note songs I guess can stay at 3/4, but the 6 note songs should at least be 4/6 notes hit. All note hit changes is costing a time spent buffing increase by 50%-100%. The nerf is insane. -

<Hidden>Either remove the reduction to move speed while playing the songs, or revert the perk. Easy as that.

<Hidden>Hey IM staff, you're supposed to nurture emergent gameplay, not stifle it. See how Capcom handled their happy little design accident way back and what became of it:
The combo notion was introduced to competitive fighting games with Street Fighter II (1991) by Capcom, when skilled players learned that they could combine several attacks that left no time for the computer player to recover if they timed them correctly. Combos were a design accident; lead producer Noritaka Funamizu noticed that extra strikes were possible during a bug check on the car-smashing bonus stage. He thought that the timing required was too difficult to make it a useful game feature, but left it in as a hidden one. Combos have since become a design priority in almost all fighting games, and range from the simplistic to the highly intricate. The first game to count the hits of each combo, and reward the player for performing them, was Super Street Fighter II. -

<Hidden>I feel the class, after the skipnerfs (charismatic performance) while retaining song lengths feels like a chorefest to play. You're literally locked into slow movement, tapping notes, and hoping that your teammates wont just blast off your buffs range when playing without comms (voip & team voip when?). Pre-nerf bard felt much more rewarding to play, and I felt like I could have tons of skill expression, juggling between songs, and thinking on my feet while missing a note I was supposed to play, and re-optimizing the song on the fly. I'd much rather see heavier numerical nerfs but keep the fast paced, expressive playstyle a bard used to have. Or reduce intervals between songs. Or have an attribute scaling that makes you pump notes faster, resulting into way harder songs to 'perfect' but rewarding skilled gameplay. Currently it's a snoozefest that's way subpar to a cleric, so I guess I'll lullaby myself to sleep and play the more op support class instead.

<Hidden>Din of Darkness was the only thing that actually needed to be nerfed in bard. The stat nerfs are whatever but the charismatic performance nerf is horrible, like everyone else here has said. I would honestly be fine with it if casting speed was increased proportionately to make it a bit more skill based and harder to hit notes, but the way it is now I need a mid 30s knowledge set to cast at roughly the same speed as I did pre nerf and it's just not fun. I already had a lot of trouble ever getting loot when running around with my 3 man because I had to be buffing around 50% of the time, now it's just actually impossible. IMO un-nerf bard's charismatic performance, make Din of Darkness scale 0% with added magic damage, buff its damage by a few points and have it do something else with cool utility like function as a tracker so you can see the outlines of people you hit with it through walls for a few seconds.

<Hidden>Just remove noteskipping entirely; Make the Charismatic performance perk increase the "Good/Great Zone" on the song, and undo the nerfs.
If i can perfect the QTE for a song, while dodging a barbarian's axe, I should be rewarded for my skill, not given a similar buff to a cleric's bless, or a fighter or barb simply pressing Q or E to activate an ability. -

<Hidden>I got to level 20 on bard and have been playing mostly normal lobbies with friends. Bard was the most fun I've had in this game but after the nerfs it feels unplayable. I don't even want to login anymore, bard is dead.

<Hidden>Bard was the first class I actually went "I genuinely love this class, I'm going to main it"; before this I just hopped around between Fighter, Wizard and Cleric with the occasional Pickpocket No Fighting Rogue just for fun. Now the class isn't even worth playing and I'm back to not caring about any specific class. As I said before, only the Spells/Songs should've been nerfed not Charismatic Performance.

<Hidden>speed playing nerf makes bard way more boring and one dimensional to play. either revert or work it back into a perk. if bard is too strong then nerf the songs instead of gutting the most fun part of the class.
-
18 Aug, '23
<Hidden>The performance nerf is completely overnerf and the nerf in the songs should affect only other party member, otherwise, playing bard solo is just playing a noisy loot farm for others
-

<Hidden>I hope u go back with the skip system, i need now play all points to get the buff or debuff or whatever i need, and infight?`u have no chance, its need to much time!
Pls do it back its not fun like this! -
18 Aug, '23
<Hidden>Note skips are the fun part, do anything you need to do to the class to justify them but please bring them back
Seeing Din as a common complaint, throw it in the trash idc but I love me some note skips to actually keep up with the pace of the game and combat - and my team! I’m slow moving around casting ten spells -
18 Aug, '23
<Hidden>Both supports are too meta, Cleric is a problem all its own but its easily being outshined by bard. They need to find a way to make supports feel like another option and not a necessity to keep up with the other teams.
-

<Hidden>Bard needed those nerfs, keep crying. Cleric is not that powerful, he cant do anyhtung against wizard and rangers, no speed spells or skills. Bard was is fine now
-
01 Sep, '23
<Hidden>They couldve kept bard and fighter and even WIZARD exactly as they were. And just buffed barbarians to be a potential answer to these three through proper perks and specialization.
TBH all this balancing and we dont even have the talent tree yet......its a big yikes from me. Bard on paper from day 1 EA was broken. It didnt take a pro gamer or 3 sweats to figure it out. Being able to stack 4-5 buffs which last 2 minutes and then run at a team is stupid. WEve all played wow, rs, yada yada, we all know what buffs do and its really simple- they hit harder- you die faster. -

<Hidden>VETO
note skipping is for lazy bards and why make charismatic performance a mandatory perk? not really a perk if you're required to take it to be on the same playing field as the rest of the bards. imagine seeing your favorite band live and they skipped half the songs, would you call that a good performance? you wouldn't. -
02 Sep, '23
<Hidden>No. Bards can just spam their songs for free, clerics have to recharge their spells, you know. They could in fact use another nerf.
-
06 Sep, '23
<Hidden>How about nerfing the spell regen bard gives to people and buffing other areas of his kit
-
06 Sep, '23
<Hidden>No, bards breaking the game atm. Remove buffs stacking and give bards spell capacity and make it so u can only run 10 spell with very good gear, but have charges on your spells like a wizard. Buffs of the same type should never stack to prevent buffball speedstacking
-

<Hidden>bard needs more nerfs honestly. starting with chorale of clarity its so broken its rediculous.
-
20 Sep, '23
<Hidden>Man, I see all these comments on note skipping but is no one really going to call out the most egregious nerf of them all?
Chorale of Clarity and Tranquility now ***REQUIRE*** players to be resting to benefit from them and not only that, they got nerfed down to only healing 2 points of spell power a second and 1 point of hp a second! That is an absolutely insane nerf! For them to be even remotely useful for healing your entire party now has to sit down and become targets while you announce to the entire area your presence while healing or restoring spells. Not only that but you can't even play while you're sitting down and can't benefit as well!
I can understand the number nerfs on Tranquility and Chorale, but for the love of god don't make me stop and sit every 3 seconds to heal missing hp or spell power when the class already spends more time playing a stupid minigame rather than actually getting to participate and loot or fight.
Fuck me... -
28 Sep, '23
<Hidden>I’m pretty sure they said they mad bard “slightly” more dependent on gear or something similar.
-
02 Oct, '23
<Hidden>No. Bards needed to be more gear reliant, buff lasted way too long, and song skipping was lame ass mechanic. Bards are still good the players just need to be better now. Not just easy mode out the gate.

<Hidden>When I came to this game I was so happy to see a bard class and even more so when I saw it was actually unique using songs that could be twisted. I immediately started to try to learn and had some great fun being loud and silly trying to get a handle on the class. Still I quite enjoyed it as it was an actual bard class. Now it's just a crappy gimped magic class with charges and no real identity. Most certainly overnerfed this class into the ground so much that it's not even unique.
This class should be able to solo slowly but should really offer healing group benefits like heal over time and magic recharge for the casters. Again balance is the key here not nerfing the class into the ground. There are plenty of other ways to balance without homogenizing one of the best classes in RPG history. To date only EQ has a Bard like the original concept here. Revert the changes to Bard songs and try again. Trust me you were on the right path to start Ironmace. -

<Hidden>I hate that I have to wait on druid for another healer that's not cleric. We had a perfectly good alternative in the bard class way back in August
Tranquility healed too quickly but making resting a requirement was a step too far. Please end the cleric monopoly on boss kills. The class that is supposed to be the "jack of all trades, master of none" and had already different ways to build stats and play, but has since been reduced to a parody of the slayer fighter.
