Remove the seasonal wipe system and do not implement wipes of any kind.
I think the very concept of inventory wipes is absurdly unfun and that it invalidates the desire to progress for a large portion of the player-base. As a player who collects loot for personal enjoyment and display purpose I will always stand against wipes.

<Hidden>Gear wipes are necessary otherwise there will just be an endless snowball of people with top-level gear and anyone who starts a fresh level 1 character/anyone new to the gamew ill just get instabopped by anyone who has more time to commit to the game or has put more into it in the past. This was seen in previous playtests where a small amount of people had high end gear but demolished anyone else.
That being said, there should NOT be level wipes. Leveling takes more time than anything. If anything, everyone should be set back to at least level 10 at most so you don't have to grind 10 hours per character every season. -

<Hidden>It would make more sense if they had Ladder and non ladder characters, Wiping the ladder characters each season. Wish i would have know about the wipes before getting founder edition though

<Hidden>Bad idea. Game wipes are needed. I dont want to fight people who have played 1000 hours, with full sets of uniques, maxed out purples, ect when I try and hop on to have some quick fun.

<Hidden>2 Wipes a year this gives people 6 months each session and clears all loot at the end of 6 months. I think 6 months this is fair enough considering some people don't want any wipes at all so this would swing both ways...yes wipes but seriously spaced out so its not as bad for people who don't want wipes and yeah it's far off but it's still getting wiped for people who want wipes it's the perfect middle point

<Hidden>Extraction games NEED wipes. Do you want to run into Legendary geared teams in a month who will just kill any new player? There's no way the game would survive if they didn't wipe.
-
12 Aug, '23
<Hidden>3 months is a long time, keeps the game fresh, its a necessity of the genre, you can always go play classic RPGs or coop games like Vermintide, Deep Rock Galatic, etc... not every game is going to cater to the same people.

<Hidden>The argument "everyone will have top gear" is a hypothetical that has not been tested. That's not how it works. Stacked teams will kill other stacked teams and those that die lose that gear. There are always going to be those that have top gear. It happens in every game, wipe or no wipe. I'd like to keep my progress because I, like many others, do not grind one game constantly. I'm defending this because I really like almost everything about this game. But if those purples or uniques I got lucky to pull and all that time for character levels get taken away for some hypothetical reason that people defend, I can't play this. I think it is more fun to play with all the perk slots and some gear that will actually give me a chance to survive. Why be part of the rat race when you can make progress on your own time without the FOMO on the new wipe? Most people won't make it to high level play if you wipe a game. Why wipe if most people stop playing anyway? Maybe a matchmaking system?

<Hidden>Gear wipes are not necessary and can eventually be naturally circumvented with the addition of more maps for higher level players to venture into. In the worst case scenario by which the player base chooses not to run higher tier dungeons, the earlier level regions can be given level locks.

<Hidden>You all talking nonsense. I don't have to be the best. It takes me longer to collect gear. Especially now that they've nerfed getting gear on normal trios. If they do a wipe. I will never play this game again. Top gears play high roll anyway. I'm not interested in high roll. I want to play normal.

<Hidden>i just want to play the game whenever i want for fun and enjoyment. if there are wipes there is 0 reason for me to play the game. i dont want to be under time pressure.
JUST MAKE A SEPERATE SEASONAL SERVER OR SOMETHING ELSE -

<Hidden>If there's no wipes, the devs will need to add new content with powercreep to keep people interested in playing the game. At that point, your old items may as well not exist anymore.
Unless you want an economy where good blue/purple items are available to everyone from botters farming and selling them for 20g each, you probably need a wipe. -
14 Aug, '23
<Hidden>I understrand the reason they want wipes but they could easily make matchmaking based off a gear score. Like why are new players forced into games with people with all purple, blue and legendary gear.

<Hidden>I can see both argument here pretty clearly. A wipe system is necessary to the integrity of the games health. It sets the standard for all players to achieve that rising feeling of power again rather than staying at the top forever. I also think a lot of people here overestimate how long it takes to obtain gear. I work a normal job and played this game on and off for a week and got alright gear and had a lot of fun. You don’t need to grind or be the best to have a lot of fun with this game and that’s why I love it so much. I do see it being frustrating losing a random super lucky item you got so many there could be a transfer option? Like every wipe you can choose 1 item to bring to the next wipe therefore you could bring your favorite weapon or armor? I think that’s a pretty solid solution to most of this. Additionally I liked that idea of level wipes not happening or only going down to 10. Level grinding pretty weak tbh.

<Hidden>they might wipe only once and i feel like it is kinda needed after people got mega rich, billionaire level day one because of the gold cache that was stupidly easy to farm as rouge.

<Hidden>Extraction shooters have been moving away from progress wiping in other games. The Cycle: Frontier is a great example of this, as so many people felt the progress wipe destroyed any reason they had to keep playing.
-
18 Aug, '23
<Hidden>The Cycle: Frontier is an absolutely AWFUL example of this, considering they literally shut down the game. It died the moment they 1: did nothing about cheaters and 2: removed wipes.

<Hidden>Most videos games are pointless yes, but wipes make a game completely so. Not playing again after finding out wipes were going to be implemented. Anyone arguing for wipes can waste their time. I'm not giving myself arthritis from trading and buying stupid coin purses for zero reason. Think of a different option not the dumb one devs.

<Hidden>It's ultimately the lesser of two evils tbh, the severity of having large numbers of coordinated groups with high-quality gear stomping people out will kill a game so much faster than having to "grind" back any loot you once had on a previous season. Even then, their estimated ~~~ 3 month gap ~~~ between season changes are wholly forgiving and people are really going over how long of a time that actually is.
I like to see this just as an opportunity to get the best out of the gear I have and not care once it gets lost within the sea of rats that lurk the dungeons -

<Hidden>This is a terrible idea. Look at what happens to tarkov late into a wipe, game gets flooded with gear and it essentially dies. People beg for wipes. Wipes allow you to have the experience of progression multiple times instead of you getting to end game and stomping until you quit the game. Wipes make sure every single lobby later in the game isn't full of purple gear chads destroying any new players chances of enjoying the game. Wipes are necessary for this kind of game, otherwise it will die.
-

<Hidden>I too would like wipes gone but they are kinda necessary with classes like the rogue being so busted now that not many people will want to swap to a new class when one comes out since they are already so leveled and geared from playing on easy mode
However I think some things should remain, maybe like a small 10x2 box to store items that won't go away next season, a wipe proof box -

<Hidden>Wipes are a bandaid fix for core issues with these kinds of games, and it sucks. (Gear hoarding) These issues currently do not exist on Dark and Darker, but they may eventually once storage gets expanded. Lack of any real permanence definitely hurts games like these for a lot of players. Keep in mind once they finish skill trees, wipes will hurt even more. I think there absolutely should be a separate ladder/league that has wipes, like PoE.
Wipes because groups have ultra stacked gear in endless supply, is not valid because of the extremely limited storage. You can't have 1000s of gold AND all the best gear at the same time without using mules. If you lost high quality gear, eventually you'd have to buy new gear from trading post or spend time grinding it out, meaning the entire earlier game cycle will still exists in some form.
So in my opinion, with the very limited storage as of now, wipes do not make sense to have. -

<Hidden>I like gearwipes. It makes you less attached to your gear/stash, so you can just play for fun instead of get salty over losing your gear when you die.
-

<Hidden>idc if inventories get wiped, but if the game wipes without unlocking all perks at level 1 i won't be playing again. the leveling process is by far the worst part of this game
-

<Hidden>Fronic... You can literally level a character in less than 2 hours if you know what you are doing. It took me about an hour 30 minutes to level my rogue from 1-15. Really not that hard to get xp. Especially since they just made pots and crates give xp.

<Hidden>Wipes make a game unsustainable and kills players' drive to play the game. People who don't have the luxury of playing every day for hours miss out on the game due to wipes. The arguement of lobbies becoming unfair and stacked due to gear can be fixed by having seperate high-gear lobbies.
Lobbies should be sorted into different brackets based on gear. It is not fair for a default/naked player to run into a fully loaded opponent, they shouldn't be in the same lobby. The normal caves require player and gear balancing to prevent fully geared players or high-roller players from dominating the map. Lobbies should be seperated by gear tiers such as green vs green +1 up(blue) or -1 down(white).
Wipes are not good for a game long term. -
24 Aug, '23
<Hidden>wipes are 100% neccessary, your cry baby needs arent going to change the facts of the game, sorry you have 1 hour a month to play and 16 kids and jobs, not our problem.
-

<Hidden>Wipes is a must, but should be done in a reasonable time span. Two weeks is too short. A month or two is probably good.
-
25 Aug, '23
<Hidden>Wipes are a blunt tool to "fix" a more complicated issue.
Everyone will start fresh, but a few days in we will see the same problem rising again.
I played 5 rounds yesterday, got bumrushed by fully geared grps in 4 of them.
I love this game, though this is sucking the fun out of it. -
25 Aug, '23
<Hidden>Gear wipes would be unnecessary if we had gear score lobbies and anyone saying gear score lobbies are bad lack in imagination.
-

<Hidden>Big L take without wipes this game has no future there needs to be resets to balance out the playerbase.
it would be ridicoulus to remove the wipe system, in my opinion the game should wipe way more often like once a week inventory wipe and once a month full wipe (inventory + char lvl & triumph lvl)
that would be held the Game healthy and the Gear really worth it -
25 Aug, '23
<Hidden>WIPES WILL HELP new players jump into the game!!! It is a must for this type of game, it does not take long to level up and get some gear, this will prevent people from hoarding gold and gear and will keep the player base fresh. As well as gain new potential players to purchase the game on the idea that everyone will have to start at the same time just like launch and they wont feel like they are starting too late and become discouraged to purchase or play. Every fresh reset is a new opportunity to invite new friends and players to the game.

<Hidden>What are people on about? A loot based game like this dies within 2 months max depending on how grindy it is to get the best stuff. Literally every other popular extraction looter has wipes. Why? because they are just good and keeps the game fresh. You didn't play the first month of the wipe and don't wanna get steam rolled? well wait one month and you are on even footing to everyone else. The progression you don't lose is experience. The time it takes you to get good stuff when you can easily clear hell mode and even kill bosses compared to not being able to is drastic. More pvp experience means more overall loot. Every wipe you become better and better. Meaning you get more fun and you progress that way.
What makes games like this fun is the "risk versus reward", which completely gets removed when you have piles of loot and don't really care much about the loot from the games. -

<Hidden>How do I down vote! They need a down vote function cause if this gets passed a lot more than are voting here will be pissed

<Hidden>This is meant to be kind of arcade like- in that you dont really NEED to sit down and grind this game. AT least thats how I play it. You seem to be looking for more of an MMORPG type of game where the investments of time you make really do make your character more fun and gratifying to play.
It should be easy to get a green set, somewhat difficult to get a blue, little harder for purple, and kinda lucky for orange and uniques. These items should be fun and not attached to any association of one's self worth and/or moods and feelings. I believe attaching these such sentiments to your gaming sessions will only hurt your life. This game should be fun and just a waste of time really. If you're approaching it for something beyond that- you will only find frustration.
In short- just play and have fun. The items are just .jpgs bro -

<Hidden>A lot of people are gonna point out gear wipes are important cause of several factors and also troll players requesting no wipe calling them casual. However i am here to point out item changes are going to be so frequent that items in inventory either will change before your eyes even though you got them in a better state or they will stay the same creating items that break the economy as they become mega valuable and unfair. Changing people already gathered items feels bad and frustrating as well. these is the leading reason for wipes. That plus when they add new things like the skill tree people will need to start over or else there would be no point in the skill tree for 90% of the players. Wipes may not be the final end all to the games forever existence but it will be at very least during early access and should be.

<Hidden>Wrong, this is a inevitability of extraction looter games. Eventually people get more and more gear and games end up becoming uber geared slog fests, with no possibility for newer players to get a foothold. And with no real reason for anybody to continue as most people will have maxed out gear.

<Hidden>Gear wipes = yes
Level wipes = no
Level wiping just means casuals give up playing and the sweaties keep grinding
Tarkov maybe the inspiration but Tarkov is sweaty, don't be a sweaty game please
Its why I love it, I don't have to try <3
