Spectate as a Rat
Add the option to spectate a game as a rat. Players will see rats running around. Rats cant interact with in game items, only move as a normal player would. They cannot impede the actions of players but can see the action as its happening from their low perspective.

<Hidden>this will be very abuseable by snipers. Trust me, i want an improved spectator mode as well, but i understand the issues with sniping. If they did implement this, it would need to be on a healthy delay, like 5 mins or so. Even knowing the general area of where a party was a few minutes ago would be a huge advantage.

<Hidden>What I'm about to say is only my opinion. I love the idea it would be fun and I would enjoy it but I agree with Kronk on the idea that it would be abused.
Now as an idea to make this suggestion more viable maybe make it so if you want to be a rat and spectate then how about make it to where you can't become a rat until you're team is dead.
Another idea would be make it to where you can become a rat but instead of spectating a match you were alive in you could instead spectate a separate match.
Also as a way to make it less abusable make it where living players can't see the rats. -

<Hidden>I envision this as an option instead of joining. I don’t think you should be able to select which match and you don’t see any names. It’s truly a spectator mode. You don’t see any names and can’t interact with stuff. Only move around floor level. The players see rats running around to add visual appeal without worry they are being tracked

<Hidden>This idea would be great and my suggestion to mitigate those problems you guys are talking about, like scouting, sniping etc, would be adding a delay time of 5 mins, just like when you watch a competitive match of Counter Strike for example, what you see is the past round, not the current one, so you can't do anything in order to ruin the game your're watching. So if you choose to watch a match as a rat, what you're seeing happened 5 minutes ago.
Therefore, I understand this brings a whole new and complex system for the devs to add, something that could record everything that is happening on the match, with every player, every mob, etc.
So it's a nice idea, but I don't see it happening right now. -

<Hidden>I believe that OP means you can only spectate as a rat when everyone on your team is dead, of course. This may be abusable for people who meta-cooperate, i.e. join lobbies together or watch/follow streamers as they play. It still sounds like a fun addition.

<Hidden>Imagine the rat can be killed, can pick up a 4x4 of stuff but only if it's on the ground, so like one 4x4 item like a helmet or four pieces of single slot jewelry etc. Rats live on until the swarm hits.

Why would I cater to the (5%) or less of this playerbase that is a professional streamer, that gets sniped? Isn't that their own problem and something they deal with regardless?
I'm sorry but its called "the risk you take" when streaming a game anyways, and sometimes I just wanna spectate (and will finish the game faster if possible just to see other people play). Take my upvote! -

Suggestions made here for limitations should be sufficient to support this fun aspect of the game.
Currently, spectating will only allow you to see the game from your teammates' perspectives. It's only once your whole team is dead can you spectate other teams.
Either waiting for the entire team to die to enable rat mode would be plenty enough, as the game population is so high and frequent, that joining the same match as friend to rat for them would be highly unlikely so that should be fine. Otherwise there would have to be a soft barrier around your teammates that would teleport the rat back to their teammate's location. Also rats can't open doors, so they would be completely reliant on other players passing into the room to let them scurry around the map. Even then most people shut the door behind them. Just more to consider, would need rat holes that only open when a door is open or something to prevent scouting the other side. -

<Hidden>cool in theory, but what happens if spectators work together to lead players to portals? now it's a lot less intense at the end of rounds, which would kill excitement in the game. the possibility for communication in a game where information is key to winning is very very abusable here.

<Hidden>Allow spectating rats the ability to pick up single items and run away with them causing players to try to chase and kill the rat... the rat can then run into a room full of mobs to prevent the player from getting that item. This would only work for small items of value and only against greedy players. When you die make the rat spawn far away from your team so to prevent them from running items and dropping them for the team.

<Hidden>Maybe just make it so you can watch a specific player/party in third person, as if you spawned in with them and died. so you couldnt change views outside of that party.

<Hidden>Terrible ideia. I think a rat could help pvp players find hidden ones, guinding them. A spectator mode is cool, but not playing with the players and appering in their screen. A invisible rat is ok.

you could have the rats be invisible until the entire team is wiped, at that point, there is no possibility of it being abused
im seeing a trend here, across most suggestion topics:
all of these negative comments are EXTREMELY toxic with very few actually being amicable discussions on how it could be altered, or how they think its just not a good idea -

<Hidden>Worst idea ever. PvP spy-on-you mechanics are dumb an anti-comeptitive. Its super lame playing a stealth rogue if someone's dead friend can just spy on you real-time in a match that is still playing out? Its ridiculous that someone can just die, stream their screen to their friends in discord, and they can headshot you out of stealth. Spectate needs to just outright go away.

<Hidden>This but all players are invisible. So you can see enemies reacting to players, and probably spells, but not the actual player models. Allows people to learn more about the dungeon without stream sniping.
